Congratulations to Rebecca Knight on her PhD defense
We are delighted to announce that Rebecca Knight successfully defended her PhD on Thursday 28th of November.
Rebecca’s PhD studentship was funded by the University of Nottingham's Wellcome Trust Drug Discovery and Team Science DTP. Her work has focused on synthesising novel fluorescent ligands targeting the P2Y2 receptor, a G protein-coupled receptor that is an important therapeutic target in cancer and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Rebecca’s project spanned medicinal chemistry and in vitro pharmacology, whereby she validated the ligands that she had generated using NanoLuciferase Bioluminescence resonance energy transfer (BRET) and fluorescent calcium assays.
Rebecca’s research during her PhD was published in ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters in July 2024: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39015271/
Her PhD supervisors were Prof Michael Stocks, Prof Steve Hill, Dr Laura Kilpatrick and Prof Jeanette Woolard.
Congratulations Dr Knight!
