Congratulations to Dehan Comez on his PhD defense
We are delighted to announce that Dehan Comez successfully defended his PhD on Thursday 21st of November. Congratulations Dr Comez!
As an ONCORNET2.0 ECR, Dehan's work has focused on characterising the interaction of a GPCR (CXCR4) and a receptor tyrosine kinase (the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)) chiefly using NanoLuciferase Bioluminescence resonance energy transfer (BRET). His research has investigated the effect of CXCR4 or EGFR selective ligands or nanobodies on the formation or dissociation of these receptor complexes. Dehan's research during his PhD has contributed to three publications in Frontiers in Immunology (2022; https://doi.org/10.3389/fimmu.2022.1006718), Cell Reports Methods (2023; https://doi.org/10.1016/j.crmeth.2023.100422) and ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters (2023; https://doi.org/10.1021/acsmedchemlett.3c00469), and as well as a manuscript that is currently in preparation.
Dehan's PhD supervisors were Prof Steve Hill, Dr Laura Kilpatrick, Prof Meri Canals and Dr Steve Briddon.
Dehan's examiners were Prof Cristina Sanchez from the University of Madrid and Dr Ian Kerr from the University of Nottingham.
