Title:
Joint grant writing retreat in the area of antimicrobial resistance in agriculture
Project Overview:
Dr Dov Stekel won £4800 funding through the University of Nottingham Discipline Bridging Award scheme in 2015 to organise a grant writing retreat. Aimed at academic staff from across a range of disciplines, the purpose was to develop research grant ideas in the area of antimicrobial resistance in agriculture. The retreat was held at an off-site, residential retreat to allow staff to devote their full attention to developing three draft research grants. Dr Stekel invited two colleagues from the University of Birmingham to join 11 colleagues from Nottingham to take part in the event.
The retreat was held at Scalford Hall Hotel, Melton Mowbray, from 14th-16th July 2015. 4 grants were drafted and two bids into the NERC-led Theme 3 AMR call have subsequently been made. The larger research grant, worth £1.5m, includes the Birmingham academics as co-investigators, with one of the research question strands being led by Dr Jan Kreft from Birmingham.
