Collaborating in Brazil
Brazil was identified as a key nation with which to collaborate in 2011, due to the notable quality and ambition of Brazilian universities.
There has proved to be significant potential, and this activity provides on-going and tangible evidence of our appetite for institutional collaboration, at a time when research councils in the UK and abroad are increasingly looking towards consortia level activities.

Science without Borders
Birmingham and Nottingham have had the pleasure of welcoming over 300 Brazilian students to our campuses as part of the Brazilian government’s ‘Science without Borders (SwB)’ programme.
These students have been excellent ambassadors for their home institutions and country; the contribution they have made to the intellectual and social life of our universities has been exceptional.

International research projects
The Partnership has preferential status with two funding partners, FAPESP and FAPERJ, which allows us to offer joint pump-priming opportunities to undertake research that may develop into bigger projects over time.
