Title:
Family Policy and Practice Research Centre
Project Outcomes:
The Family Policy and Practice Research Centre was established to develop innovative ways of ‘thinking family’ that cut across traditional domains of adults or child/parent focused policy and practice. It is intended to address the dearth of research conducted from a genuinely ‘whole families’ perspective. It explores the lived experiences of families in order to develop service models, professional practices and policy strategies.
This project has led to £330k of external funding, including an ESRC grant for a knowledge exchange seminar series and a NORFACE grant. The collaboration fund was also linked to a British Academy grant.
There has been a significant engagement aspect to this project, through a website and blog, conferences and talks. An ESRC seminar series is underway with senior policy makers, academic and employers and practitioners. There are also several articles with publication due over the forthcoming months.
